Four years ago, Latin at Heart was a vague concept in the mind of suburban family man, Billy Wilson. Today, Latin at Heart is a five-piece concept rock band with a big sound that includes keyboards and four-part harmonies. From writing the first song on a $20-dollar cassette player in the living room, to countless nights downtown shaking hands with bar managers and musicians, Latin at Heart has risen to play Antone's on a Thursday night bill, and has exciting once-a-month shows at Momo’s.

Where does "Latin at Heart" come from? Latin at Heart can best be described as a concept rock band that plays original album rock and pop jazz the way it was written in the late 70s and early 80s. Every player on the stage is Anglo, yet the melodies are flamenco and latin jazz inspired, and it's ALL in Spanish! And, when YOU go out on a Saturday night in Latin garb, and have fajitas and margaritas, and view Mexican sculptures at Mexic Arte, and take in a Del Castillo or Latin at Heart show, and finish the night with salsa dancing till 2:00 am, you are, for that night, "Latin at Heart"!

The origins of Latin at Heart can be traced back to Wilson's childhood. Raised in Central America, he grew up listening to Latin crooners like Raphael and Armando Manzanero. At home his mother always had a vinyl record spinning with the symphonies of Russian composers. Upon his return to the States at the age of 13, it was Beatles, Moody Blues, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Fogelberg, Steely Dan, Springsteen and Van Halen. It can be argued that Latin at Heart's music is the combination of all of these areas of influence.

The band features Wilson’s passionate lead vocals and the musicianship of some of the most accomplished players in Austin, namely Stephen Zirkel, Ulrich Ellison, Marty Mack, Marianna Hetrick, Jake Owen, Jacinta, Joe Zito, Claire Rhein, and Jeff Botta. With it's unique sound and make-up, and with this group of talented musicians, Latin at Heart is winning over music fans and has become a major player in the Austin music scene.
